Daily Shower Stall Cleaning With Sponge and Bucket
Daily Shower Room Cleaning With Sponge and Bucket Recommended Supplies and Cleaning Equipment: Clinging Acid Cleaner Water Hose and Connectors Plastic Mop Bucket Wall Mop, Frame, Handle Mildly Abrasive Pad Rubber Gloves, Boots Face Mask, Goggles Doorway Mats Caution Sign(s) Large Turkish Towel(s) Large Sponge Comments: In spite of the daily and weekly cleaning procedures used, there will be a build-up of lime (mineral) and soap scum deposits (which are alkaline soils). This requires a periodic or intermittent cleaning procedure with a safe acid to rejuvenate the surface back to its original state. The frequency will depend on how well the daily and weekly procedures are performed and the degree of the water hardness of the tap water. It is recommended that this be set up initially at 3 month intervals. With time, this could be either extended to 4, 6, 8 or 12 months, or increased to every 1 or 2 months, as appropriate to the particular institution. Recommended Method: As in all cleaning procedures, the first step is to gather the recommended janitorial equipment together, check the cart supplies and proceed to the area to be cleaned. Set up caution signs. Wear gloves and any other protective equipment recommended and/or required. Check with your supervisor. Discard used articles and soap. Place doorway mats. Then pour clinging acid cleaner into a plastic bucket Wall washing (using hand method): work from the bottom of the wall up. Dampen sponge with clinging acid cleaner. Use light pressure in sweeping figure-8 motion. Repeat moistening procedure within entire outlined area. Do not over-saturate mop. When sponge becomes soiled, remove and replace with a clean one. Apply the clinging acid cleaner heavily enough that it can remain on the wall for 2 to 4 minutes without becoming dry. Rinse wall with clear water. Start at the top right-hand corner and rinse entire washed area. Dampen rinse sponge in clean water. Use a figure-8 motion. Do not over-saturate rinse sponge. Hose down entire wall using plenty of fresh water. Then dry the wall with turkish towels. Dry around the edges of the area which you have cleaned. Be careful to stay within the cleaned area. Dry entire cleaned area using a figure-8 motion. Repeat the previous 3 steps, if necessary. Inspect your work, then clean the janitorial equipment thoroughly and return to storage area.
