Floor dust pans
come in many different styles. The two main styles of dust
pans are handheld which have a shovel with short handle
attached and upright where the shovel is attached to a long
handle that swivels, this is called a lobby dust pan.
The traditional
shovel type with short handle are great for occasional
clearing of debris and requires the user to bend down and
sweep the debris into the dust pan while holding the short
handle. Short handle dust pans are light weight and do not
require a lot of space for storage. These traditional dust
pans are usually made from plastic, fiberglass and metal.
If constant debris
cleanup is needed the we recommend a lobby dust pan. Lobby
dust pans do not require the user to bend over or crouch down
to remove debris from floors. Lobby dust pans consist of a
shovel bucket that is attached to a long handle. When floor
debris needs to be cleaned up the user simply drops the bucket
in front of the debris and sweeps the debris into the dust
pan. When the lobby dust pan is pulled up from the floor the
shovel bucket swings horizontally to keep the debris in the
bucket. Lobby dust pans are most commonly made from plastic,
fiberglass and metal. Most lobby dust pan handles are 35 to
40 inches. Some lobby dust pans feature a closing dust pan
lid to trap debris inside the dust pan shovel.
