Procedure for High Dusting and the Janitorial Equipment
Needed
Recommended Cleaning Supplies and Janitorial Equipment:
High Duster
Dust Mop Treatment
Vacuum
Treated Dust Mop Head
Recommended Method:
As in all cleaning procedures, the first step is to
gather the recommended janitorial equipment and supplies together and
bring to the area to be cleaned.
Hand Dusting:
(Note: If working in a health care facility, it is
suggested that the high dusting be done when the patient/resident is out
of the room. No matter how careful you are, there will be a certain
amount of dust put into the air, and this could be an irritant to the
resident/patient.)
Start at the entrance doorway. Work the area (room) in a
clockwise or counter-clockwise pattern.
High dust everything above shoulder level.
Alternate Method – Vacuum:
Follow the same procedure as Hand Dusting.
Be sure to inspect your work and correct any steps you
might have missed.
Allow time to clean up and return the janitorial
equipment to the storage area.
Finally, when you are finished, wash hands and dry
thoroughly.
